The Arctic Chub Muzzle Break
Arctic Shooting Supply has been in the firearms industry in Southern Colorado for over 30 years. It is a veteran owned company serving Law enforcement and the shooting public. The owner decided to retire from the resale business and close the store front, putting his focus into manufacturing and developing the Arctic Chub line of products. All sales are now handled through Shepherd’s Security.
Development of the Chub project started after 20 years in business. The shooters at Arctic Shooting Supply have tested some 60 different muzzle devices on their M16 with mixed results. They found it hard to sustain full automatic fire accurately with everything they tried. They decided to produce their own break. About 3 years into the development of their product they were joined in development by the owner of Shepherd’s Security. (A firearms training company in Southern Colorado, specializing in training faith based safety teams as well as other safety teams for local businesses. After working together for 2 years, the Arctic Chub was born. It was designed with accurate sustained fire in mind. We had as our goal not only to be able to make a full auto accurate throughout all types of fire but to be able to control accurately a full auto M16 one handed.
The Chub is stocked in three basic configurations. ½ x28 5.56 caliber, ½ x28 30 cal, and 5/8 x24 30 cal. The Chub is also available in all calibers up to and including .45 by special order. It is made from 4140 cromemoly steel. The same steel that is used for most firearms barrels. It is produced from U.S steel made in Pueblo Colorado. It is finished with Cericoat to withstand 1500 degrees.
The Chub produces a 52.2% recoil reduction on the 5.56 and an average of 49.9% recoil reduction on 30Caliber. It is in use by Law Enforcement around the country and is popular with hunters and competitive shooters alike. The Chub is being tested with contractors In the Middle East as well as some 3 gun competitors. It has been successfully used on 9mm pistols, AR 9’s and even 45/70 lever guns.
Along with the Chub we have produced a qd suppressor mount to be used in connection with the Chub. The suppressor mount is a push button quick release universal mount. It comes standard with direct thread suppressor mount in ½ x28 30 cal, and 5/8 x24 45 cal. You can use your suppressor manufacturer’s propriety mount threaded directly to our qd mount, or directly threaded to our mount. The suppressor mount comes in separate pieces or as a kit. The kit contains The Chub, crush washer, base plate, and suppressor mount of your choice.
The Chub retails for $69 in the 2 standard configurations, and all other configurations as a special order for an additional nominal fee.
